Our Team

Veterinarians

Tom O'Callaghan is a local West Cork vet, native to Union Hall. He qualified from UCD in 1993, worked in the UK initially before returning to Ireland to work in Mallow and Bandon, both in mixed practice before returning to Skibbereen in 2004. Tom divides his time between farm animal and companion animal cases within the practice. Having come from a background influenced by the equine world, Tom naturally has an avid interest in equine medicine.

Sean Hickey originates from Ballydehob, qualified from UCD in 1995, and spent time in Northern Ireland, New Zealand and elsewhere before returning to practice in Skibbereen in 2000. Sean has extensive experience in all areas of both large and small animal medicine, with a particular enthusiasm in bovine fertility.

Sean Hourihane another UCD graduate, is from Rosscarbery in West Cork. Sean has spent most of his working life here in West Cork. He works mainly with our farm animal & equine clients.

Mary Farmer is originally from Fermanagh in Northern Ireland and has worked in mixed practice in Dublin, Co. Louth & Co Fermanagh before moving to West Cork in 2001, initially to Clonakility then to Skibbereen in 2011. Mary is proficient in the treatment of companion animals, but is no stranger to treating large animals when the opportunity arises.

Philip O'Callaghan joined our veterinary team in March 2016. He is originally from Donoughmore, Co. Cork, and he qualified from Budapest in Hungary. Philip has a keen interest in large animal medicine, although he can also be seen in the small animal clinic regularly.

Claire Frewen from Mitchelstown, Co. Cork, graduated from UCD in June and began working here at the clinic in July 2017. Coming from a farming background, Claire has a keen interest in treating farm animals, but is also passionate about companion animal medicine.

Bart Hoebe originates from the Netherlands, where he graduated from the Dutch Veterinary University in 2000. Since then, Bart has gained veterinary experience in New Zealand, the Netherlands and the South West of Ireland, and has a particular interest in Cattle Herd Health Management.


Veterinary Nurse

Teresa O'Donovan is is our Veterinary nurse. She comes from Skibbereen, Co. Cork. She completed her studies in St. John's College, Cork and began working with our team in 2017.

Admin Staff

Suzie Gill & Carmel O'Driscoll are our administrative and accounts staff. They keep the office running from day to day and are always at hand to help with any queries you may have.
